Colorectal Cancer: Key discovery of the importance of variations in human chromosome region 8q24 to colon cancer predisposition presented in Chicago at the American Society of Clinical Oncology, June 2, 2007. Work of the Assessment of Risk for Colon Tumors in Canada (ARCTIC) research team was revealed in a platform presentation by Dr. Steve Gallinger at ASCO. The presentation described the partial results of a 3 year, $10M research investment that has identified regions of genetic variability (SNPs) in this region associated with colon cancer. This discovery is the subject of patents exclusively licensed to ArcticDx.
