ArcticDx Licenses exclusive rights to ARMS2 genetic polymorphisms from Vanderbilt University.

April 16, 2008 — ArcticDx Inc has closed license agreements with Vanderbilt University for its rights to an International Patent Application entitled 'Genetic Variants Increase the Risk of Age-Related Macular Degeneration'. This patent application(s) protects the utility of a coding change in LOC387715 at rs10490924. The invention and the patent application include a direct link to these variants with smoking. Smoking and LOC387715 together may explain as much as 34% of Age-related Macular Degeneration according to the data supporting the application.

The Vanderbilt licenses with ArcticDx include non-exclusive rights in the USA and exclusive rights in the rest of the world. The agreements provide ArcticDx with rights in the fields of molecular diagnostics, prognostics, risk profiling and companion diagnostics (pharmacogenomics). ArcticDx Inc. has included these variants in its proprietary test (Macula Risk™).
